As we start the New Year we find that many of the challenges from last year are still with us. We continue to have Covid in the community; the war in Ukraine continues; Global economies are struggling and climate change is upon us. Technology marches on and we find that so many of our devices are “smart” these days. In the face of so much change we need to maintain our mental health nonetheless. I enjoy these extracted lines from Max Ehrmann’s Disederata (Things desired”) written in 1927 when the world was between world wars and much of the fabric of society had been irrevocably changed by the first war. Perhaps Ehrmann discovered the power of meditation to help to find that inner peace.
“…But do not distress yourself with imaginings –
Many fears are borne of fatigue and loneliness….
….With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
… Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence”
Mindfulness meditation helps us to go placidly and we continue to offer free meditation sessions to sustain your meditation and support the development of inner peace – if you or someone you know needs some counseling in meditation or in understanding how the integration of Mindfulness with CBT can help us to manage our emotional selves differently get in touch.
